Descending 800 feet into the John’s River Gorge, the trail follows New Year’s Creek with views of three waterfalls. This 1.6 mile trail ends at Glen Mary Falls. Tanawha Trail is a nice, moderate hike that is more challenging in length. This 13.5 mile trail stretches from Julian Price Park to Beacon Heights and parallels the Blue Ridge Parkway on Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina.
